The Great American Songbook
Sunday, June 2, 2019

The Great American Songbook does not refer to any specific songs, but rather what many call “American Standards” which are some of the most important, influential Rodgers and Hammerstein and enduring popular and jazz songs written between the 1920s and the 1950s. Among the most famous composers are George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Duke Ellington, Henry Mancini, Richard Rodgers and many others.
The Festival Singers will be joined by Lyric Opera Young Artist Competition winner, Aaron Leppke. The program will conclude with selections from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical Carousel including such beloved songs as “If I Loved You” and “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and will feature Daniel L. Wilson singing the powerful and moving “Soliloquy”.
If you remember and love the music before Rock and Roll, this program is sure to include some of your favorite melodies and evoke pleasant memories of a bygone era of popular music
This program is not suggested for children under eight years of age.

The concert begins at 3 p.m. and will be held at the Lake Forest Sun and Sail Club 24752 Toledo Way, Lake Forest, California.
